Chivas Regal Mizunara 70cl 40°
A big success in Japan, the Chivas Regal Mizunara is the first whisky with a finish in Mizunara oak barrels.
It was during a trip to Japan that master assembler Colin Scott, admiring of Japanese traditions and culture, decided to pay homage to the land of the rising sun through this whiskey.
Unique in its kind, the Chivas Regal Mizunara reveals rich and fruity notes. Colin Scott has selected exceptional Single Malts and the best grain whiskeys to compose this blend. The single malt Strathisla brings fruity and very rich notes and the other Single Malts, including the Longmorn, confer more complexity.
The Mizunara oak wood finish gives this whiskey subtlety and spicy notes.
Did you know? Mizunara oak is a legendary tree from the Nikko Forest, north of Tokyo. This thousand-year-old natural space is dominated by the sacred mountain of Kôya-san, a center of Japanese spirituality.
Used since the middle of the 20th century, Mizunara oak has become rare and its production is now limited.
Fragile due to its porosity, this wood is a unique element in the production of whiskeys by the spicy notes it brings in maturation.
The founders of the Chivas Brothers Co., James & John Chivas, knew that a whisky would be only as good as the steadiness of its quality.
At that time, whiskies used to be rough and did not age well. Hence, the Chivas brothers created extremely smooth quality blended whiskies, and quickly became real pioneers in the art of blending. Others then followed the standards set up by the Chivas Brothers, and, at the beginning of the 20th century, the Chivas Brothers marked history creating a blend of the finest quality they called “Chivas Regal”… Securing the quality and steady flavours and character of Chivas Regal is no other than Colin Scott, who has been Master Blender at Chivas Regal for more than 30 years.
