FLAHAVAN'S: A FAMILY STORY


Flahavan's has its roots in County Waterford in the south of Ireland, in Kilmacthomas. The Flahavan family has been based there for over 200 years, between the Comeragh Mountains and the River Mahon.


The family mill dates back to the 1780s and once operated on the power of the river's waters. The region is an agricultural area suitable for growing cereals and particularly oats: fertile soil regularly watered by rain, a mild climate throughout the year.


Cultivated by the Flahavan family for 7 generations, oats gradually entered the composition of family recipes created by Mary and which became products in the range over the years: porridges, mueslis, granolas, etc.

To make porridge in a saucepan: Pour 80 g of oatmeal, add 550ml of milk, water or vegetable milk (coconut, almond, etc.) in a saucepan and stir. Bring to the boil over low heat and simmer gently for 3 minutes, stirring regularly (until desired consistency is reached).

To make porridge in the microwave: Pour 40g of oatmeal, add 220ml of milk, water or vegetable milk (coconut, almond, etc.) into a bowl. Place the bowl in the microwave and cook for 2 to 3 minutes (time varies depending on the microwave) until you reach the desired consistency. Stir and let sit for a few minutes before enjoying!
