The McVitie’s story started in Scotland, in a small family-owned grocery shop.

As they specialized in bakery, the McVitie’s opened a new factory in Edinburgh. 1892 is a milestone for the family business, as they devise the Digestive’s original recipe, iconic biscuit of the brand. Thanks to its unique recipe, McVitie’s are granted the Royal Warrant when asked to bake the future Queen Mary and King George V’s wedding cake.
