History of Ireland: the Best of the Green Island

Le Comptoir Irlandais offers you an extraordinary trip to Ireland through a selection of iconic products: from Barry's Tea, the favorite teas of Irish people for over a century, to the traditional Irish Stew, by way of the famous Irish whiskeys. Immerse yourself in the heart of a multi-faceted Ireland.

Discovering Irish Whiskey

Ireland and its whiskeys ... or the art of mastering the three-step distillation process! This triple distillation brings that soft and fruity side so particular and specific to Irish Whiskey.

In Ireland, the large part of the production of whiskey is handled by 3 large distilleries: Bushmills, the most emblematic, Midleton, one of the oldest Irish distilleries from which the bottlings of Jameson, Powers or even Redbreast come from, and Cooley, the youngest who produces in particular the Single Malts Connemara and Tyrconnell. There are also more confidential productions and many other projects across the whole Green Island.

While the term whiskey is universal, the spelling "whiskey" is specifically used for bottlings in Ireland as well as in the United States, particularly following the emigration of the Irish to the United States during the famine of the 19th century.

Whiskey but not only...

Other than Irish Whiskey, whose reputation is well established, Ireland also offers us a fine selection of beers, including those from the famous Guinness brewery known for its dark beers or beers from Smithwick's brewery.

In terms of spirits, Le Comptoir Irlandais also offers a selection of gins from the Drumshanbo distillery. And yes the production of gins is not only reserved for English neighbours ...
