For 4 generations, the family business Grandma Wild's has carried on the tradition of cookie making with many of the same recipes created by great-grandmother Annie Wild over 100 years ago.
The original Wild's Bakery was established around 1899 in the Victorian seaside resort of Morecambe, Lancashire. Annie Wild ran the bakery and boarding house (now Bed & Breakfast) while being a full-time mother of three boys.
His eldest son John Wild decided to return to his Yorkshire roots in the 1920s, away from the seasonal summer trade, where he and Annie opened a store in Haworth. It was here that they began to build the legacy of Grandma Wild's special baking recipes.
In 1928, he bought larger premises just outside Haworth and it remained the family bakery until the millennium, then moved to larger premises in Steeton, West Yorkshire.
From those humble beginnings, the company has grown, but it has remained true to traditional family values and the commitment of its founder, grandmother Annie Wild, for all these years.
