Kilchoman 5 Years Old 2017 Cognac Cask 70cl 58.4°
Created from malted barley from Port Ellen and peated at 50ppm*, this Single Cask is part of the Kilchoman experience.
Aged during 5 years in first-fill Hogshead barrels that contained Cognac from Maison Ferrand, it offers notes of fruit, all intensified by a lemony, liquorice and medicinal peat.
Edition limited to 253 bottles.
*PPM - parts per million - of phenolic compounds, measures the impact of oily peat smoke that settles on sprouted barley as it dries. The longer this time, the higher the ppm value. An already well peated Islay whiskey is around 40-50ppm. But let's never forget the particularities of each distillery in terms of the taste of the whiskey in the mouth.

First distillery built on Islay, 125 years ago, Kilchoman has been built as a “farm-distillery” and grows its own barley.
About 100 tons are harvested and malted at the distillery, 30% of the distillery’s needs. The rest is supplied by the Port Ellen malt-house. It is also part of the 6 last distilleries operating with traditional malting processes. In 2009, Kilchoman crafted its first recognized Single Malt. Kilchoman is one of the smallest distilleries of Scotland with an annual production of about 100.000 liters.
