Distillery : Oban / Country : Scotland / Reference: : 24816

A whisky rich in symbols, with notes of spices and sunshine, different while fully representing Oban's delicate and affordable style.

Oban, firmly anchored in the eponymous coastal town since 1794, is one of Scotland's smallest and oldest distilleries. In Oban whisky, distilled a few steps from the sea, we find the richness and lemon specific to the Highlands, to which are added iodine and the light peat of the islands.

The iodine aromas combined with the powerful ones of the freshly charred barrels jump to the nose. Crisp notes of oak spice, citrus and sea air follow on the palate. The long and peppery finish completes the tasting with accuracy.

The Special Releases series from Maison Diageo is a set of limited edition bottlings. This highly coveted collection is recognized and appreciated. For its 2021 edition, Diageo has chosen 8 cask-strength Single Malt Scotch whiskies from rare and original casks.

The unique character and quality of Oban whiskies ranked the distillery in the Classic Malts Selection.

Crossing point to the Hebrides, Oban is a well-protected harbour making the city the capital of the West Highlands but also the natural link between the great land and the islands. Founded in 1794, the Oban distillery has been established by the Stevenson brothers. Partly redesigned in the 1890, it is still one of the oldest and smallest distilleries of Scotland.

Engulfed in the small strip of land between the mountains and the sea, the small and lively town of Oban huddled on the distillery. This geographical impediment explains why the distillery never spread and had troubles meeting a growing demand.

The unique character and quality of Oban whiskies ranked the distillery in the Classic Malts Selection. Created more than 20 years ago, this selection recognises Single Malts crafted in the tradition of iconic distilleries, and offers the most impressive whisky styles Scotland has to offer.

Nose: aromas of sea, sea salt, oil and light smoke.

Palate: notes of oak spices, citrus fruits (lemon and orange), iodine, oily pepper.

Finish: long and peppery.
